Leonardo DiCaprio has big plans for 2024
Leonardo DiCaprio’s 50th Birthday : The actor, who turned 49 on November 11, talked candidly about working with costar Lily Gladstone on his most recent movie, Killers of the Flower Moon, in an interview with ABC News’ Chris Connelly that aired on Tuesday’s Good Morning America. However, when Connelly questioned the Oscar winner about his aspirations prior to reaching his significant birthday, he had another movie in mind.
In the exclusive chat, which PEOPLE has access to, Connelly, 66, asked DiCaprio what he wanted to achieve before turning 50 the following year.
“What do you know? Just one more film,” DiCaprio remarked, implying that he would like to return to the spotlight for a different project. “One more movie.”
Connelly and DiCaprio thought about how quickly the years have passed before the question was posed. You have 49 years of age. Connelly, who had conducted numerous interviews with DiCaprio over his 13-year tenure as an MTV News movie critic, teased, “How the hell did that happen?”
Speaking back, DiCaprio remarked, “I have no idea,” adding, “We were talking about our first interview, that may have been 30 years ago.”
Martin Scorsese is the director of DiCaprio’s most recent film, Killers of the Flower Moon.
Based on the nonfiction book of the same name by David Grann, the movie depicts the true account of the Reign of Terror, which consisted of a string of heinous killings of Osage Nation members, who at the time were the richest people in the world per capita.
In the film, DiCaprio plays Ernest Burkhart, a white man who travels to Oklahoma and weds Mollie (played by Gladsone), a wealthy Osage woman. Later on, he gets involved in a plot to kill her family members in order to inherit her oil rights, which was orchestrated by his wealthy uncle William K. Hale (Robert De Niro), a cattle rancher.
Tom Gliatto of PEOPLE called the film “the most sinister movie ever made about the West, and probably the most coldly pessimistic portrait of the American character since There Will Be Blood.” Both critics and viewers have praised the dark comedy.
Off-screen, DiCaprio seems to lead a much happier life. On November 11, he threw a star-studded party in Beverly Hills to celebrate his most recent birthday, inviting Italian model Vittoria Ceretti and a number of other famous friends.
DiCaprio and Ceretti, 25, were reportedly “affectionate and kissing throughout the night,” a source told PEOPLE. Since August, the two have been romantically associated.
Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Tobey Maguire, Taika Waititi, Axl Rose, JAY-Z, and Beyoncé were among the other guests that attended DiCaprio’s birthday celebration. At one point during the late-night celebration, which continued into the early hours of the morning, the source revealed that DiCaprio was “raised and carried around the room.”
Now showing in theatres is Killers of the Flower Moon. ABC broadcasts Good Morning America weekdays starting at 7 a.m. ET.
